About Martin Amis

Goal by Martin Amis

Congratulations on being curious…

So, the author Martin Amis has a blog?

No, I’m not the famous writer Martin Amis. Despite also living in England, I am no relation whatsoever. However I receive numerous emails asking me to read manuscripts, sign books, give speeches (at Yale no less) or just giving praise on my writing prowess.

And who is this Martin Amis?

I’m a photographer from the UK, with an interest in documentary and street photography, and a passion for photobooks. In the past few years, my photography has been selected for the PDN Photo Annual, Jen Bekman’s Hey,HotShot! and Magenta Foundation’s Emerging Photographers.

You can view my photography at my portfolio website Lifeshots.co.uk. Flickrites can see my images on my page here.

This blog will feature regular writings on documentary and street photography, as well as some of my own latest work.  Alongside this, will be regular articles on photography books, of which I am a keen collector.

Why Hipshots, whats that all about?

Well it’s certainly not because I think my images are hip or anything….more that my portfolio site is called Lifeshots, so Hipshots went nicely with that, and also I like to photograph from the hip using a waist-level anglefinder.

Oh…whats your email?

You can get in touch by emailing lifeshots at gmail.com.
