Archaeology in Reverse
December 8th, 2007 Posted in photobooks, photographyCheck out Saturday’s Guardian for an excellent piece on photographer/artist Stephen Gill’s book Archaeology in Reverse. The book seems to have gone out rather unnoticed with all the fuss over one of his other releases this year, Hackney Flowers. However it is equally interesting, lovingly printed and designed, and well worth buying while you can (its a limited edition of 3000 copies). Shot with the same 50p camera, that was used for his much celebrated work Hackney Wick, the book’s ghostly images focuses on the areas of Hackney set to undergo such great change with the Olympic 2012 development.
